Mycobacterium intracellulare and M. abscessus subsp. abscessus were detected in the lower respiratory tract specimen of a 59-year-old woman. She was diagnosed with a mixed infection, and treated with imipenem/cilastatin, amikacin, azithromycin, ethambutol, sitafloxacin, and clofazimine, which resulted in improvement of imaging findings. Thereafter, intravenous amikacin and oral antibacterial agents were continued. The management of patients with mixed infection of non-tuberculous mycobacteria is a clinical problem, and the results of drug susceptibility tests are important in determining treatment.
