ABSTRACT

Delayed diagnosis of malignant lung tumors leads to a worse prognosis with reduced treatment options. We face challenges in diagnosing pulmonary invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma (IMA) in some cases, but recent reports have suggested the usefulness of chest magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A 68-year-old woman underwent a chest computed tomography (CT) scan to examine tumor-like shadows. Although bronchoscopy showed no malignant findings, her chest MRI images suggested a mucin-rich tumor. The final diagnosis of IMA was made via a surgical approach. Here we report a case of IMA in which chest MRI images were important in determining treatment.
