ABSTRACT

Background: Mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm is rare, but rupture of such an aneurysm is potentially life-threatening and requires treatment. A 40-year-old female was referred to our department because of an abnormal shadow on her chest roentgenogram. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) showed a bronchial artery aneurysm of 28mm in diameter in the superior mediastinum as well as mosaic attenuation of the lungs, suggesting bronchopulmonary anastomosis. Angiography showed an aneurysm connecting to the right pulmonary artery. After bronchial arterial embolization, the mosaic attenuation diminished. Herein we report a case of mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm connecting to the pulmonary artery, showing mosaic attenuation of the lungs, which was successfully treated with bronchial arterial embolization.
