We report three cases of patients with interstitial pneumonia who were positive for anti-aminoacyl tRNA synthetase (ARS) antibodies. Screening for cancer revealed cervical cancer in two cases and endometrial cancer in the third case. In all the cases, interstitial pneumonia responded well to treatment; however, one patient died due to progression of the cancer. Until now, an association between anti-ARS antibodies and cancer has not been reported; however, there is no clear opinion on such an association. Here we report three cases of interstitial pneumonia carrying anti-ARS antibodies complicated by the presence of gynecological cancer in a single establishment and over a short period of time.
