ABSTRACT

A 76-year-old man went to bed in the prone position after accidentally ingesting kerosene. He subsequently visited our hospital because of fever, left-side chest pain, and cough. Non-contrast chest computed tomography (CT) showed tumor-like shadowing with low-density areas in the middle lobe, the lingula, and the ventral region. We made a diagnosis of acute exogenous lipoid pneumonia using bronchoalveolar lavage. We need to consider acute exogenous lipoid pneumonia when CT image show tumor-like shadowing on the middle lobe or lingual segment in patients with kerosene aspiration.
