ABSTRACT

I evaluated the change of the Japanese representation in the international top ten respiratory journals during 2001-2015. The proportions were 5% in 2001 (Japan: 140, total: 2,820) and 4% (Japan: 104, total: 2,613), respectively. The representation was significantly decreased during the fifteen years (p=0.003). This trend was remarkable without the oncology journal. It was also remarkable being limited to basic science research. Effective interventions in both basic science and clinical research are required.
