A 79-old-year woman admitted to our hospital for fever and back pain. A chest computed tomography (CT) showed a diffuse thickening of left pleura. A CT guide pleural biopsy was performed, and pathological diagnosis was desmoplastic malignant mesothelioma. Her serum CYFRA level was remarkably high. Although the tumor size decreased with four cycles of chemotherapy (carboplatin/pemetrexed), it increased again 5 months later. Her serum CYFRA level declined after the treatment, but it was elevated when the she had a recurrence. Her condition became worse, and she died 11 months after first admission.
