ABSTRACT

We clinically reviewed 4 cases of pneumonia caused by coinfection Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydophila pneumoniae. Pneumonia caused by coinfection M. pneumoniae and C. pneumoniae was seen in four adults, a male aged, 19 years, and three females, aged 24, 34, and 36 years. No underlying disease was present. Symptoms included persistent cough, peripheral blood WBC count of less than 10,000/μl, coarse crackles on auscultation, and expectoration of sputum. We administered minocycline or new quinolone, and the prognosis was excellent. Chest image revealed infiltrative shadow with surrounding ground-glass opacity, centrilobular shadow, and thickened bronchial walls.
