A case of small cell lung cancer with cancer-associated retinopathy

ABSTRACT
A 52-year-old man complained of dimming vision. He was suspected to have cancer-associated retinopathy (CAR) because electroretinography (ERG) showed a negative waveform, and multifocal ERG showed a diffuse negative waveform. Systemic examinations led to the detection of lung cancer. It was identified as small cell lung carcinoma by bronchofiberscopic biopsy. He was diagnosed with CAR after antirecoverin antibody was found to be positive in his plasma. He was treated by anticancer chemotherapy. However, the tumor did not respond. Moreover, his vision did not improve. We reported encountereing one case of small cell lung cancer associated with CAR.
