Invasive pneumococcal diseases are infections in which Streptococcus pneumoniae is detected in spinal fluid or blood. We experienced two cases of invasive pneumococcal diseases that were detected in the blood culture of patients with COVID-19. It should be noted that COVID-19 is associated with pneumococcal infection as well as influenza virus infection. When serum procalcitonin levels are elevated in COVID-19, bacteremia should be suspected, and blood culture and antimicrobial agents should be considered.
