The patient was a 77-year-old man who developed acute pneumonia during chemotherapy for lung cancer with concomitant interstitial pneumonia. Although drug-induced pneumonia was suspected due to the patient's background and clinical course, a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) PCR test was positive, and he was diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia. It is often difficult to distinguish COVID-19 from other forms of acute pneumonia. Therefore, we should be alert in cases of patients who have respiratory symptoms, and test and treat them appropriately.
