A 78-year-old man was referred to our hospital for evaluation of a consolidation that was detected in the right lower lung lobe by computed tomographic scans. He had had an acute myocardial infarction 18 months earlier and was treated with a coronary stent and clopidogrel, a thienopyridine derivative. The consolidation was migratory in the preceding 2 weeks and gradually improved after clopidogrel was withdrawn. The diagnosis of organizing pneumonia was made upon histological examination of transbronchial lung biopsy samples. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report suggesting clopidogrel as a likely cause of drug-induced organizing pneumonia.
